DNA : Local mobile handset maker Micromax on Monday launched Canvas 4 at a price of Rs17,999 and said it was eyeing the number one spot in the local smartphone market.
“We have 24.3% market share in the smartphone category as on April 2013, as per Cybermedia Media Research...we want to go to top,” Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma said.

The handset has a 5.0-inch D (720X1280) display and is powered by 1.2HGz quad-core processor. It runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.
Equipped with a 13MP camera with image sensor, Canvas 4 offers advanced shooting experience with face detection, photosolid to increase precision, geo-tagging, touch focus, smile and face detection, four direction panorama and 1080p video recorder. It also offers a 5MP front camera.
It also offers features such as blow to unlock and pop-up play, wherein a user can watch a video while previewing another one.
The phone has wi-fi, GPS, bluetooth and micro-USB for connectivity.
“Canvas 4 combines great functionality and style, complemented by an entire eco-system of applications that directly address the needs of our evolving consumers,” said Rahul Sharma, co-founder, Micromax, said.
On the recent growth of company, Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax said, “We are very excited with the consistent growth of the brand in India, and with the launch of Canvas 4 we are confident that the brand would continue to reach newer heights.”
The company has sold over a million units of Canvas series in the last three months. The series has 10 models in the range of Rs6,000 to Rs18,000.
