If Telengana why not Gorkhaland?

The GTA is a total failure and that time has come me to resign from GTA. I will soon give my resignation to the Governor of West Bengal. People must gear up up for more agitation for Gorkhaland. - Bimal Gurung

"The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha calls for a 72 hour strike from the 29th July to press for our demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland. We will not rest till we get gorkhaland" - Bimal Gurung

Reports say at least three Sikkim vehicles were set on fire on the national highway today on first day of Band call by GJMM in Darjeeling hill.

Mr. Mohan, DM, Darjeeling has said that those who want to attend office duty or work can do so unless and until they are on sick leave or otherwise. If anyone found absent at work during the bandh period, then it will affect their promotion at a later period due to the absence as this is a State Government stand against those who skip duties during bandhs.

The state government on Sunday deployed five platoons of strike force and 15 platoons of Rapid Action Force in the hills of Darjeeling amid growing tension in the region ahead of the 72-hour bandh called by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) beginning today.

Tourists headed towards the plains fearing exorbitant transportation cost and shortage of essential commodities. People assembled before shops to collect essentials as vehicle operators charged excessive amount to ferry the visitors to Siliguri who were leaving the hill town since noon. Some foreigners and domestic tourists, however, chose to stay.

Two helplines - 100 and 0354-2254203 has been kept for the strike by Darjeeling Police. Any person facing any inconvenience can call up the number.”

A brave Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha cadre attempts self immolation in chowk Bazar when the Police tries to intercept slogans of Gorkhaland.

The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, in good faith and keeping in mind the spirit of the tripartite agreement, agreed to accept the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. The agreement clearly stipulates that the demand for Gorkhaland is not dropped. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, to fulfill the aspiration of the Indian Gorkhas reiterates its long standing demand for a separate of Gorkhaland in the light of the development of the Telengana
issue.

We feel the demand for Telangana is justified, since the demands have been raised by the sons of the soil and they are the citizens of India.
On the other hand, there is doubt over the identities over the people who have been demanding Gorkhaland. It is doubtful whether they are Indian citizens. Under these circumstances, they have no right to demand for a separate state. - Bangla O Bangla Bhasa Banchao Committee

Politically, our demand may not be equated with Telengana but
historically, socially, culturally, ethically similarity exists. So if
Telengana can be created why not Gorkhaland?
