Dehradun: Heavy rains have again disrupted the relief work in the flood-hit Uttarakhand. Helicopters were unable to deliver rations to flood-ravaged villages in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts. However, some relief materials were delivered with the help of vehicles and mules. More than 200 government workers are stuck in Kedarnath.

The MET department has issued a warning of heavy rains for various places in the state till Monday. After reports of irregularities in relief material distribution, the Uttarkashi District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar has been removed for laxities in the relief work. Sources had earlier reported that relief material by the government agencies was not reaching the survivors.
The destruction from the floods did not just stop with property but has largely affected the education sector as well.
About 300 school were destroyed in the flash floods. A large number of private and government schools have closed down as school buildings have either been washed away in floods or so badly damaged that classes cannot be conducted. Holidays have been declared in many schools. The govenment has said that it might take months or in some places even years to make these schools functional
"All the classrooms are flooded. The cupboards and storage units have been destroyed. We went out for holidays. By the time we came back the entire area was flooded and school shut down. That is why the school has declared a holiday," said a student.
