Sanyog very much with TMC

The political status of the late ABGL leader Madan Tamang’s son Sanyog Tamang was marked by confusion with the youth making contradictory statements throughout today with regard to his joining the Trinamul Congress.

Sanyog, who was never active in politics and does not hold any post in the ABGL, the party floated by his father, had joined Trinamul last evening. He was also handed over a Trinamul flag by north Bengal development minister Gautam Deb.

However, in a message posted on Facebook, Sanyog denied that he had joined Trinamul. “Sorry people of Darjeeling. My intentions to join TMC was not there….. I am not against Gorkhaland. I have not joined any political party after my fathers death...” reads his post.

After a 30-minute meeting with Deb around 11am here, Sanyog changed his stand again. He told journalists that he would continue to function as a Trinamul worker. In the evening, Sanyog reverted to the earlier stand and re-posted the same message he had put up on Facebook in the morning.

Reacting to Sanyog’s frequent flip-flops, Deb said: “He is still shocked over his father’s death and is insisting on justice. Yesterday, he had joined our party and is very much with us. He had made a post on Facebook. But later, he clarified his stance before the media.”
