Tourists who want a bird’s eye view of Darjeeling and the Himalayas can do so soon. A private charter plane service will start flights

Who will fly the plane: Super Shine Airways Private Limited, a Delhi-based company

The plane: A Cessna 172R that seats three and the pilot

Take-off: From Bagdogra

Service to start: From January 15

Look down to see: The Kanchenjungha and other Himalayan peaks, aerial view of Siliguri and neighbouring forests, Darjeeling hills and Mirik

Stay airborne for: 15 minutes or 40 minutes

Pocket pinch: For 15 minutes Rs 2,500, for the 40-minute flight Rs 5,000. For the cockpit seat beside the pilot and a lesson on controls shell out Rs 40,000 for 30 minutes

How many planes: One as of now. If the rides become popular, there may be more.
