Siliguri: A woman who had last year accused a doctor of molestation in a nursing home has alleged that three youths had attacked her and snatched her cellphone and gold chain yesterday.
The woman had alleged molestation by a doctor at a nursing home in Matigara, near here, on October 21 last year. The doctor was arrested and is out on bail now.
Yesterday’s incident happened when the woman went to a doctor’s clinic in Pradhannagar to treat a foot injury.
“As some patients were waiting to see the doctor ahead of her, she went out to have a soft drink,” said her uncle who filed the complaint with Pradhannagar police.
“She told us that as she was about to return to the clinic after having the soft drink near the Pradhannagar branch of a bank, three youths approached her on the pretext of inquiring about an address. One of the youths slashed her hands with a sharp object, which we suspect was a knife. She ran to save herself and they pursued her. They hit her on the head, slashed her hands again and snatched her gold chain and cellphone before escaping,” said the uncle.
The woman was rushed to a nearby private nursing home where she is still under treatment. “She has suffered injuries on the hands and head and is under treatment. Her condition is stable,” said a family member.
The uncle said a complaint couldn’t be filed yesterday because the family was busy with her treatment.
A police officer said: “We are aware of the girl’s history. Police are probing the incident and trying to collect evidence.”
