Today the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration held a meeting at Gorkha Rangamanch and in this meeting some new projects has been passed by the GTA which are as follows:-
1. The Sabha has decided to set up 3 degree colleges at Sukhiapokhri, Pokhriabong, Mungpoo and Longivew-Pankabari.
2. The GTA will set up a B.Ed college at Samthar in Kalimpong.
3. The agricultural department of the GTA has been asked to set up a medicinal plant and cash crop research centre in the Hills.
4. A fire station in Mirik.
5. The information and cultural department will set up 3 auditoriums at Kalimpong, Mirik and Kurseong, each of which will cost around Rs 3 crore.
6. New Gorkha Bhawans will also be set up at Vellore and at Calcutta, preferably near SSKM hospital. These bhawans are being set up for patients who have to visit these cities for treatment.
7. The GTA Sabha has also decided to grant an annual constituency development grant of Rs 30 lakhs to each of the 45-elected Sabha members. The grant will be given to the Sabha members in two phases of Rs 15 lakhs each.
8. Higher education department has also been asked to scout areas in Sonada, Mungpoo and Munsong area to find a suitable land where a central university can be set up. The GTA has also taken a resolution that a higher secondary cell should be set up in the Hills.
9. A handloom centre at Kutlery in Kurseong
10. A construction of a new hospital building at the existing bus stand in Kurseong was also approved by the GTA Sabha.
11. The GTA also passed a resolution asking the State Government to form Terai-Dooars-GTA development agency on lines of the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority.
The GTA Sabha will also have sessions like winter session, monsoon session and budget session just like in the state assembly.
