The people of proposed Gorkhaland have been witnessing the history of full of tragic Fridays- black Friday, red Friday, bloody Friday, sad Friday and so on. Still, they are architects of legitimate dream to have dearest Gorkhaland for theirs own. They have been waiting with pationate sufferings, the time to celebrate two badadasains, two Christmas, two Losars, two Ids in a year. Now, the question is, who should lead this aspiration of people in this region?. Obvious answer can here be leaders. Never to say no, the region of proposed Gorkhaland never falls in deficiency of leaders, but, the “deficiency in efficiency of leadership” in hauling aspiration of people to gift them a bright Friday, infact another good Friday in a year. And this time too, the history of “deficiency in efficiency of leadership” in this region is being repeated.
In moving ahead, let us, cursor our eyes in recent development over the issue of proposed Bodoland. Move of Telangana during the closing days of last Loksabha, has brought a inspiring mobilisation among Bodo people in proposed Bodoland area with a collective vision among leaders, where people now started feel their “closest and dearest Bodoland” near to their hand. Their collective efforts, visionary leadership and determination toward the dreams of people compelled government of India to down its knees. An expert committee to study the feasibility of Bodoland, has been formed by the power in centre. Of course, there has been an opposition against the idea behind the formation this expert committee. Whatever may be the idea behind formation of this study committee, the people in “proposed Bodoland” has climbed one more upper ladder toward their dearest goal. Their “efficient leadership” and “consistency to go on” will take them upto upper-most ladder, and day will come soon when people can see rise of the sun over the land which they are dreaming for since long.
Back to the flow of course, what is the status of the leadership in proposed Gorkhaland?, Debate? If it is a debate, what is it about?. There may be many answer(s). But visibly obivious asnwer one may find is useless counting of another leader’s failure by one, pointing fingers toward a group by another. Will these worth to the dream of the mass that they are nurturing since long yesteryears? Why don’t leaders and parties in proposed Gorkhaland prepare objectives in doing own rather than useless abuse on other’s doing? Why don’t they pick up self work-plan instead, pointing fingers to what other failed to do? The political temperature is gaining high in the area. Ofcourse, when country is jumping into the upcoming general election proposed Gorkhaland cannot keep it away from this fray. Leaders and parties are busy in selecting candidates for Darjeeling MPship constituency. And with it, the temperature is rising up with the questions like “Son of Soil” and so on in fielding the candidate.
Here the issue in paramount importance should not be-who is candidate and where from he is”. But, what the candidate can do for the greater mass of proposed Gorkhaland and how can he take this mass into confidence who are being betrayed as “no land’s man” since centuries. People from “proposed Gorkhaland” may prepare to press the bottom of their valuable vote to the candidate one who fight for the mass of proposed Gorkhaland. One who shows ability to create enough echo in upcoming Lok-Sabha with the slogan “soil for the sons” rather than projecting self as “son of the soil”. In many occasions fight for the right “soil for its sons” may come much worthier than the right for the fight by a “son of the soil”.
