29th Starvation Related Death from Red Bank T.E, Dooars

Dooars: In another incident of death from malnutrition, Sunita Oraon (55), a garden worker and resident of No. 3 Raliway Division Line, died today. Since the closure of the garden on October 19, 2013, as many as 19 workers have died. The three currently locked out tea gardens owned by the Red Bank group, namely Dharnipur, Red Bank and Surendranagar, have reported 29 worker deaths since the closure. The rapid increase in the number of deaths has terrified the remaining garden residents.
