An audio file is now being circulated in mobile phones, where a voice, mimicking Kalimpong MLA and GJMM spokesperson, Harka Bahadur Chettri, talks of ‘corruption’ in the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha.
While campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections is on in full swing and as different political parties are doing their best to woo voters, some people are engaged in a smear campaign in a bid to outdo their opponent party leaders, but of course, with a touch of satire.
In the 2-minute-24-second-long audio clip, a conversation takes place between what the clip says a ‘reporter’ and ‘Mr Chettri.’ The man presumed to be Mr Chhetri makes comments on deep-rooted corruption among the GJMM leadership.
In the funny mimicry, the man mimicking Mr Chhetri says he and the ‘other GJMM leaders’ have cheated the public in the name of Gorkhaland. The voice also appeals for votes once again so that they could ‘deceive’ the people again.

“If you give us votes, you will once again be duped. We have bought huge swathes of land as large as the Mela Ground and amassed property,” the voice says.
The fake reporter asks what kind of a leader GJMM chief Bimal Gurung is, and the voice answers that he is a “foolish leader who wears gold rings in all his five fingers.” The entire audio file is filled with the funny mimicry of Mr Chettri.
Asked to comment on the audio clip, Mr Chettri said nothing can be done against people who are fake and who have no identity of their own.
“They have done this as they have nothing else to do in life, or have failed politically. These kind of people can stoop to the lowest level when it comes to character assassination of someone. The fake audio clip has made by these unidentified persons to defame me and my party,” he said.
