Darjeeling: District administration on Tuesday promulgated IPC section 144 CrPC effective from April 30 onwards till further notice in and around Jamuney tourist spot to maintain law and order, which may arise due to land dispute. Jamuney tourist spot was established by GTA (Gorkhaland Territorial Administration) in 2011. However, it has been raised the issue of illegal land possession by GTA from the local inhabitants.
The owners of the lands accused GTA that it has illegally occupied their ancestral lands without any compensation. The issue is now raised by political party TMC in favour of land owners against GTA.
