Stipend payments stopped after the formation of the GTA.

WHERE IS THE STIPEND MONEY VANISHED?

Stipend payments stopped after the formation of the GTA.
Another incidence of neglect and apathy against the hill students has come to light in the form of unpaid stipend. Even though both college and school level students in the plains have been receiving regular stipend, students in the hills have not been given any stipend since 2012.

Stipend which is given to SC, ST and OBC students to assist them with their educational expenses were last given for the year 2011. Surprisingly however, payments stopped after the formation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.
A group of students from Kurseong had already submitted a memorandum to the Kurseong SDO and BDO offices on 27th of November, 2014 requesting for early release of funds, however there has been no news forthcoming from the SDO or the BDO offices

Students who have so far been patient and tolerant towards the lack of support from various concerned departments, their patience is however running out and the students have threatened that if the GTA administration is unable or unwilling to release the funds due to the students, they will hit the streets in protest.
