Kalimpong Essay writing competition by Nepali Sahitya Addhyan Samity (NSAS)

In pursuit of encouraging the students into the field of literature, the Nepali Sahitya Addhyan Samity, Kalimpong had organized an inter-school and college level essay writing competition which concluded on Sept 1. And to award the winners of the Nepali essay writing competition, the Samity today organised a felicitation programme at the Worship Center located in 9th mile area of Kalimpong under the chairmanship of Gyan Sutar President of the Samity.

The event was graced by former principal of Kurseong College, Dr Saroja Rai as chief guest, where writers like MB Pradhan, and Sanumati Rai, among others were also present.

The competition was participated by a total of 80 students from various ICSE, and Madhyamik board of schools along with some colleges of the hill region. The winners announced in the event were Pratisha Kumai of Pranami Balika Bidya Mandir under Madhyamik category,  Priya Subba of Jubilee High School under higher secondary category, and Rakesh Sharma of Kalimpong College under college category who were handed over a trophy and certificate of merit along with the runners up securing fourth position.

On the occasion, Ajay Lama, assistant professor of Kalimpong College along with Subash Sotang, teacher of St Augustine school, and Devkumari Chettri, teacher of Kalimpong Girls High School briefed about the benefits, situation, and techniques on essay writing with the help of some official presentations.

 “I am amazed by the quality of Nepali essay writing the participants have produced. I applaud the Nepali Sahitya Addhyan Samity for their initiative and also urge all the concerned departments to join hands in generating the essence of literature among young minds” said Dr Saroja Rai.
