Like every year, this year too the Darjeeling police will be organizing a marathon on January 12, 2015, said Darjeeling police superintendent Kunal Agarwal at a press conference held at Siliguri Circuit Houseon Monday.
Agarwal described the marathon as an initiative to celebrate National Youth Day and also observe ‘peace-rally’ to boost peaceful relation among the masses.
He said, male and female participants belonging to the age group of 18-45 years can participate in the 13 km long race which will be flagged off from Sukhia Pokhari at 9 am and will conclude at Chowrasta in Darjeeling.“The winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, while the runners up will receive Rs 50,000 and 25,000 respectively. Those who are willing to run can register themselves at a nearby police station,” said the SP. (HS)
