With the initiative of tourism department Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) to develop tourism prospect in hills, a workshop-cum-training programme for Rural Tourism and Home stay was conducted recently at Agro Tourism Mela, at Meghaytar, Kurseong.
The programme that was a part of GTA ‘s initiative, was conducted by Enchanting Himalaya Adventure, Kurseong on behalf of GTA Tourism Department. The participants hailed from different remote areas of Relling-Kaijala Samisthy.
The training programme focused on development of tourism possibilities together with human resource development that will not only provide economic benefits but also equally create a realization of social responsibilities and ecology conservation.
The training programme was inaugurated by Relling-Kaijala Samisthy president Saran Sangybo. Course Director Mr. Jeetu Giri started the training session followed Babit Gurung from Bhutan and other resource persons from Nepal, Mirik, Darjeeling, Siliguri also shared
their experiences.
Giri informed, recce of the area was done by the Enchanting team and that Relling, Upper Samalbong, Upper Sirisya, Lamgoan and Meghaytar had a lot of potential for home stay and rural tourism.
