Shri Ram Prasad Sharma is an MP from Tezpur. He was born in 1955 in Kathanibari of Sonitpur district of Assam. Though he was born in a rich family, he left home at the age of 12 years due to minor quarrel with his father. He worked as a coolie. collected stones and did many petty jobs to sustain himself and to get his education from Shillong and Garo Hills.
Ram Prasad Sharma joined congress party in 1974 on the insistence of PA Sangma and the CM of Meghalaya but soon left it. He joined RSS in 1978 and BJP in 1991. At that time BJP did not have much base in Assam. He contested his first election in 1999 from Tezpur but could win it only in 2014. He is married to Ganga Nath and has a daughter who is a lawyer in Guwahati High court. RP himself is a senior lawyer in Guwahati High Court. RP is very close to Sarbananda Sonowal. He played a big role in making Sarbananda the president of Assam BJP.
Specially here in Delhi, RP Sir has always been approachable and easily accessible. He reads every memorandum thoroughly that we take it to him, he listens to us attentively and also work on our grievances asap and takes it further.
