21st June 2016 Sikkim Tourist vehicle returning from Tsongmo Lake met with an accident in Sikkim. WagonR with tourist couple returning from Tsongmo Lake was suddenly hit by a falling boulder at the 9th Mile region JN road today afternoon around 3pm. The accident was caused due to a landslide, with debris falling on top of the vehicle. The driver of the WagonR is in a critical condition and 3 passengers injured.
With immediate help given by the Sikkim Scouts and the Army they were pulled out of the vehicle and instantly admitted to the hospital.
The injured tourists and others were transshipped by Tsongmo Pokhari Sanrakshan Samiti (TPPS) by availing 60 vehicles with the help of SHO Sherahang, J N Road Driver Association, Children park drivers front, Range officer Kyongnasla, Sikkim Scout rescue team and travel agents.
