Poster by "Public Liberation Association" Pasted on Bhanu Bhakta Statue in Darjeeling Chowrasta Asks "Is Bengal Government Associated With Madan Tamang Murder?"

A poster pasted on Bhanu Bhakta statue at the heart of Darjeeling - Chowrasta by a group, which calls itself "Public Liberation Association" has caused mild sensation in the town.

The poster reads, "The PLA party wants to inform the general public that in 2001 GNLF supreme Subash Ghising was attacked at Sat Ghumti, after a few months the Bengal government arrested the revolutionary leader Chattra Subba from near Indo-Nepal border. Bengal government put Chattra Subba in jail for 11 years, without any proof.

Then on May 30, 2010 our Gorkha leader Madan Tamang jiu was murdered in broad daylight, the government has adequate proof against those who are involved, and despite that the government has not done anything to arrest these murderers.

Could it be that the Government is in cahoots with the murders???

The Bengal needs to answer our query at the earliest"

Chhatre Subba gave public speech to campaign for SS Ahluwalia after 25 years

Kalimpong : People cheered loudly when Chhatre Subba was called upon to address the rally. Wearing a felter hat with an axe (his trademark of late), Subba started with a soft tone; “It’s after 25-26 years that I am addressing the public, I am not sure how you will take my words. I have not forgotten Gorkhaland and want it anyhow. Gorkhaland cannot be achieved merely by merrymaking or by taking false oaths,” he said, a statement that has been interpreted as a veiled dig at Bimal Gurung. He stressed on the need to be serious about the issue and to pursue it with all sincerity.

Former GLO leader and firebrand leader Chhatre Subba, who has come to the forefront of politics again, today made a public speech almost after two and a half decades. Subba, who joined the BJP only recently, was speaking at a public rally held at Mela Ground here to campaign for SS Ahluwalia. He arrived at the venue when the function was halfway through, and was welcomed by GJM chief Bimal Gurung.

Subba said during his 11 years in prison, the state government had offered to release many times on condition he relinquish the statehood demand. But he preferred to remain behind bars rather than abandon his heartfelt aspiration.

Explaining his decision to join the BJP, Subba said, “I did not join the BJP without reason and the new generation should realise this. According to exit polls, it’s imminent that the BJP will come to power this time. If this happens, Ahluwalia, who will be representing Darjeeling, will speak for Gorkhaland in Parliament. This is why I have joined the BJP.”

Subba also appealed to GJM supporters to join the BJP, which came as an embarrassment to GJM leaders present on the dais.

Chattrey Subba inaugurated BJP party office in Kalimpong

The Kalimpong branch of the BJP today inaugurated its town party office here at RC Mintry Road. Former GLO leader Chattrey Subba, who recently joined the BJP, inaugurated the office in the presence of GJM women’s wing leaders Tara Lohar Lepcha, Mridula Subba and Lamu Sherpa, among others.

Chattrey Subba reiterated his commitment to the Gorkhaland issue and said he joined the BJP as it is in favour of formation of smaller states. A Gorkhaland state will certainly come into being once the BJP forms the government at the Centre, claimed Subba.

Siliguri : Smriti Giri, Chhatre Subba, and Urgen Lama announced their allegiance to BJP in Siliguri on Saturday. BJP party secretary Asim Sarkar welcomed them in their party and expects the big difference in coming Loksabha elections of Darjeeling constituency. They are hopeful to form Government in Centre, who is in favour of smaller states and believes that only BJP can deliver Darjeeling a separate Gorkhaland state.

Smriti Giri, social activist known internationally and professional political event manager at national level, who actively campaigns for leading national political parties. Miss Giri also represent from distinguished Giri families of Darjeeling, she is daughter of youngest brother of Late Agam Singh Giri. She did her MBA from London, UK.

Meanwhile, Chattre Subba, one time GLO leader, who had announced his political retirement, when people of hills failed to attend his call for Gorkhaland sometime back. Urgen Lama is former GNLF leader from Kalimpong.
