Mr. G.B. Giri awarded with IFBB Gold Medal

Mr. Ganesh Bahadur Giri, commonly known as Mr. G.B. Giri or Guruji from Darjeeling was recently awarded with the IFBB (The International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness) Gold Medal for his outstanding life contributions in the promotion of  Bodybuilding and Fitness.



The Medal was presented by the IFBB President Dr. Rafael Santonja as well as Dr. Sanjay More (Hon’ble General Secretary, Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) at the “Olympia Amateur India 2017” competition which is being held in Mumbai from Oct 13 - Oct 15.



Olympia Amateur India is a prestigious IFBB international event, an amateur version of the famous Mr. Olympia Pro competition.

Amit Chhetri wins Mr India 2016 (IBBFF)

IBBFF (International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) Mr India 2016 was held from 25th to 27th March 2016 at Bulandshehar. The venue was changed from Greater Noida. Amit Chhetri won the Overall title of Mr India 2016 after winning gold in 100 Kg category. Yashmeen Manak won the overall Miss India 2016 title. She won gold in both Women’s Physique and Women’s Fitness category.

Chhetri hails from Haridwar district of Uttarakhand and has already won several body building competitions in India and gold in the Fairfax World Police and Fire Games 2015 at Virginia in the US recently.

Amit Chhetri entered Uttarakhand police as a constable in 2006. In 2007, he won gold in Mr India Federation Cup at Tamil Nadi, while in 2011 he stood fourth in Open Senior Mr India. In 2012, he got silver medal in Open Senior Mr India at Bangalore and in 2013 he bagged gold in 13th Federation Cup National Body Building Championship at Jalandhar.

Amit Chhetri bagged Gold for India in Police Games in Virginia, USA

Winner of several body building competitions in India, Amit Chhetri - a constable of Uttarakhand Police - brought laurels to the Himalayan state by winning a gold in the ongoing Fairfax World Police and Fire Games 2015 at Virginia in the US. Chhetri won a gold in the 100-kg category in the games, where 42,000 players from 90 countries are participating.

Chhetri entered Uttarakhand police as a constable in 2006. In 2007, he won gold in Mr India Federation Cup at Tamil Nadi, while in 2011 he stood fourth in Open Senior Mr India. In 2012, he got silver medal in Open Senior Mr India at Bangalore and in 2013 he bagged gold in 13th Federation Cup National Body Building Championship at Jalandhar.

Chhetri, who is from Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, had won a gold at Open Senior Mr India-2013 at Chennai, gold at 2013 Open Mr India Sheru Classic at Pune.

Meanwhile, DGP B S Sidhu has announced a cash prize of Rs 20,000 for Chhetri for his outstanding performance and recommended the state government to approve a reward of Rs 5 lakh to the sportsman. Six police personnel, including a woman, had been selected from Uttarakhand to represent the nation in the World Police Fire Games-2015.

IBBF  Mr.EASTERN INDIA CLASSIC BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP was held in Gorkha Rangamanch Bhawan Darjeeling.  Mr Palden secured 1st position and Mr Sukra Mani and Mr Kushal of Darjeeling  finished at the top 5.

Mr. Palzor Bhutia  from Sikkim Bagged 1st Position in 60 Kgs "Eastern India Classic Body Building Championship 2014" held in Darjeeling.

Eastern India Bodybuilding Championship-2014 to be held in Darjeeling

Imphal, October 12 2014: Altogether 11 body builders and two officials have been selected to participate in the Classic Cash Prize Eastern India Body Building Championship-2014 to be held in Darjeeling from October 31 to November 2, 2014 .

Selected body builder are in the 55 kg weight category M Bormani of KFC, Canchipur and Md Boycha of All Ummah Gym, Khabeisoi; in 60 kg category, Md Ajimuddin and Md Boycha of All Ummah Gym, Khabeisoi; in 65 kg category Sh Kanta of YPISM Gym, Uripok and N Purnajit of YBB Gym, Pishumthong; K Dineshchandra, Th Romari of YBB Gym, Pishumthong and K Chakrapati of KBBTC, Kakching (70 kg); in 75 kg and above The Debajit, M Monoranjan and Y Tomba of 35 AR, according to publicity secretary, All Manipur Body Building & Fitness Association O Premkumar.
The selected team will be guided by L Manglem and S Lalmohan as team manager and team coach respectively, he added.

30 year old makes to top 10 in National Bodybuilding Championship

Sikkim: Thirty-year-old bodybuilder Tika Ram Pradhan from Rhenock has finished in the top 10 of the 54th Senior National Bodybuilding & Women Fitness Championship. The event was held in Aurangabad, Maharashtra from May 21 to 24.

Tika, a driver by profession, had represented the state as part of the Sikkim State Body Building Association and was accompanied to the championship by two other colleagues, Arun Gurung (Mr Sikkim 2014) and Navin Pradhan (former Mr Sikkim).

Arun and Navin had competed in the under-65 kg category, while Tika had opted for the under-60 kg class.

“I am very happy to have finished among the top 10 and will improve further to win the Eastern India Championship. I believe my hard work and dedication has paid off and I am grateful to all members of my association, especially Navin Pradhan, for guiding and training me throughout and SSBBA chief coach IB Gurung as well for his endless support. I also thank the Rhenock Health Club where I train each day,” said Tika.

Gurung said, “It bodes well for our association as Tika has made the state as well as the SSBBA proud. The senior national championship is a tough competition and Tika has proved that despite being a driver and faced with several challenges, a person can reach his goal if he is determined and dedicated.”

Indian Gorkha Body Builder Amit Chhetri of Uttarakhand clinched the coveted title ‘Champion of Champions’ for Federation Cup 2013’

National body-building championship ‘MR India-13th Federation Cup’ concluded at LPU Campus amid a galore of championship activities.  
Participants from Punjab and Maharashtra got maximum of illustrious ranks during championship.

Chhetri was adjudged the best not only in his weight category from 95-100 Kgms but also over all the best in other 9 weight categories ranging  in between 55 Kgs to above 100 Kgs.
LPU in association with Punjab Amateur Body Builders Association (PABBA) organised the championship, under the aegis of Indian Fitness and Body Builders Federation (IBBF).
In other competitions, Maharashtra’s Ajay Pevekar (up to 75 Kgs) got declared Champion for 51st Junior National Championship, Tamil Nadu’s K Arunachalam became Champion of Champions for Masters National Championship, and Punjab’s Sham Singh (above 60 Kgs) was declared Champion of Physically Challenged Championship. The Chief Guest of the Closing ceremony, LPU’s Chancellor Ashok Mittal handed over the glittering trophies to the Champion of champions and Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to other winners and runners -up of different 22 categories, individually.

Congratulating the Champions and winners of individual categories, Mittal encouraged other participants also to keep up the spirit of competition to excel: “The real aim of such organisations is always to inspire the Indian youth to realize their hidden talent. The way the two day event displayed the best of awakening towards health and physique is an example in itself. Body builders from each of the states of India have proved their abilities in the best possible way. We are sure that these players will further shine during competitions at national, Asian and International competitions to gather more and more glory for the country.”
On this occasion, Mittal was accompanied by Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal, President of PABBA, Dr Randhir Hastir and General Secretary of IFBB Sanjay More.

On this occasion, silver medal winner at Arnold Classics Body Building Championship held recently at Columbia USA,   Hira Lal specially demonstrated his body skills.
Similarly, Hollywood and Bollywood Star, Varinder Ghumman also displayed his physique strength and had applaud from the onlookers. One of the participants from Kerala, Jaison George, who has got third place in his weight category of 60 Kg held: “This is the best championship of my life. I have participated in a few earlier also, but the arrangements and other delineations which I met with here are superb.  The expo part of the arrangement was indeed valuable for the youth from where they could gather much know-how about body fitness and body growth.”

Illustrative, Maharashtra got 26 illustrious positions in different categories, whereas Punjab got 21. The other gold winners in their respective categories are: Rajan (Punjab) for up to 60 Kg in Physically Challenged; in Masters National (40-49 years age group) Rakesh Chand (Maharashtra) for up to 70 Kg in , K Arunachalam (Tamil Nadu) for above 70 Kg, and in age group of above 50years Bihari Lal ( Punjab); in 51st Junior National Vijay Dhoke (Vidarbha) for up to 55 Kg, Aju Ghosh (West Bengal) upto 60 Kg, Deepak (Delhi) up to 65 Kg, Rupesh Mirkute (Maharashtra) up to70 Kg, Pramod Kumar(Uttar Pradesh) up to 80Kg, Sumit Gulia(Delhi) above 80 Kg. The winners in their respective weight categories for Federation Cup are: Sunil Sakpal (Maharashtra) up to 55Kg, Aju Ghosh (West Bengal) up to 60Kg, Ravi Kumar (Punjab) up to 65Kg, Vishal Kumar(Punjab) up to 70Kg, Jitender Singh (Delhi) up to 80 Kg, Tejender Singh (Uttarakhand) up to85 Kg, Sumit Gulia(Delhi) up to 90Kg, and Vinay Kumar(Delhi) above 100 Kg.
