Prof. Munish Tamang, leader of a pro-Gorkhaland apolitical organization Jan Aawaj, reached Mirik today on a mission to spread the organization’s vision and motive among the people here. Speaking to media persons here he said, “Paying respect to the aspirations of the public, Jan Aawaj will produce a sincere and powerful leadership for achievement of a separate state of Gorkhaland.”
Disclosing the plans of the organization he said, “Sincere, farsighted and conscious citizens who actually don’t want to be active in politics but want to contribute in the struggle for Gorkhaland can come to help our organization.” Tamang added Jan Aawaj has already passed a resolution condemning GTA and had also sent a letter to the Gorkhaland Joint Action Committee voicing for “scrapping of GTA at a particular time rather than an appropriate time”. He informed however, the GJAC did not respond to the organization’s letter.
Tamang focused the need of the time is to register a strong and united voice for a separate state of Gorkhaland at the national level.
