Inspired by the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, I founded the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha on October 7th 2007 with the sole objective to attain a separate state of Gorkhaland.
In the last 7 years the demand for Gorkhaland has been raised by the GJM to ensure political identity of the Indian Gorkhas residing not just in the Darjeeling Hills but also for those Gorkhas who are facing an identity problem across India.
On this 7th Foundation Day of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha I would like to wish all supporters of Gorkhaland, the very best. I compliment you all for being at the very heart of the movement. You have made a difference to the success of our movement so far. I am confident that with your continued and unstinting support, we will succeed in achieving our ultimate goal. For the better and brighter future of all we need to continue our struggle.
I am personally convinced that you all can be a change catalyst and reformers in any situation. Your vision, initiative, patience, respect, persistence, courage and faith will one day transform our society.
Let not posterity accuse us of betraying our cause that is so near and dear to all of us.
I make this earnest appeal to all Gorkhas to scale down the Dassai celebrations keeping in mind the sacrifice of a non-Gorkha, Saheed Mangal Singh Rajput to our cause for a separate state. Let us show our solidarity with our Muslim brothers who sacrificed their Eid for Gorkhaland and the Marwari, Bhojpuri and Bengali communities who sacrificed Rakhi celebrations for Gorkhaland.
We must also remember that many of our supporters are behind bars for supporting the cause of Gorkhaland and will not be celebrating Dassai. Our prayers and sympathies are with them and their families.
