Imphal, December 28 2013 : The village authority of Samulamlan TD Block under Churachandpur district has conveyed its gratitude to 1/11 Gorkha Rifles (Betalik) for conducting a day-long free medical camp for villagers of Samulamlan and neighboring villages on December 27 .
Every year, December 27 is observed as 'Chief Day' in Samulamlan where villagers gathered to pray for the well-being of the chief and his family members with presentation of gifts.
The medical camp was organized in memory of formal chief (L) K Rekhupthang Kom who was assassinated on December 27, 2006 by unknown assailants on his 76th birthday.
The camp was formally opened by world boxing champion MC Mary Kom where she expressed her gratitude to Gorkha Rifle for extending help in availing such medical facilities to the locality.
