The Kalimpong Sub-divisional administration today organized an election awareness campaign at Saptashree Gyanpith School to impart information on Indian constitution and the necessity of use of voting rights. The awareness function consisting of events like quiz contest, sit and draw and slogan writing competitions saw participation by students from Rockvale Academy, St. Phelomena Girls’ High School, government High School, Saptashree Gyanpith and other schools from the town.
Saptashree Gyanpith school principal Tapan Kumar Pradhan and Sub-divisional office deputy magistrate Pritam Limboo were also present in the election awareness function. Informing about the initiative taken by the town administration Pritam Limboo said the campaigns are being held as per the directives of the Election Commission. He added besides the municipal area the awareness programs are being run in several blocks under the sub-division. He stated on the occasion of National Election Day on January 25 new voter identity cards will be issued to the new electorates.
