A team of hill Trinamool Congress members led by the party’s Kurseong sub-division convener Kundan Mangrati today submitted a deputation to Kurseong SDO U Swaroop demanding immediate solution to the ever increasing problem of traffic congestion in town.
They said the roads of town are regularly plagued by huge traffic jams causing immense problems to residents and commuters. Further, the LPG distribution centre located in the heart of town is adding to the misery as customers queue up on the main road.
Moreover, business establishments adjacent to the LPG distribution centre have increased the risk of accidents. The TMC urged the SDO to look into the matter immediately.
Mangrati said the Kurseong SDO has assured of taking necessary steps and that several plans have been chalked out by the administration to this effect.
The TMC Kurseong unit has also raised questions on the supply of drinking water in and around the Kurseong Municipality area. According to party leaders, unsafe and polluted water is being supplied to residents of the municipality. The TMC has also raised questions on health issues in another deputation to the Kurseong sub divisional medical officer and protested at the deplorable condition of Kurseong hospital.
