Durga Prasad Shrestha, eminent writer and editor of Varanasi-based Nepali literary magazine ‘Uday’, was today honoured with the Parasmani Puraskar by the Nepali Sahitya Adhyan Samiti at a function organised at Kalimpong town hall. Well-known Sikkim-based writer Pradyuman Shrestha received the award on Shrestha’s behalf as he could not attend be present due to ill health.
The function was conducted by Adhyaan Samiti president Man Bahadur Pradhan, and eminent writer Asit Rai handed out the award to Pradyuman that comprised a cash reward of Rs10,000, a memento, certificate of merit and a shawl.
Over the years, the Nepali Sahitya Adhyan Samiti has been awarding prominent writers with active support from the family of Late Parasmani Pradhan. Teacher cum journalist Bhuwan P Khanal dwelled on the social and literary contributions of Late Parasmani Pradhan, while youth writer DB Mangar highlighted the contributions of Durga Prasad Shrestha. Pradyuman Shrestha also praised the award recipient for continuously serving society through Uday magazine.
