Sikkim Heritage Handicraft Museum in Namchi foundation stone laid by CM

Sikkim chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today laid the foundation stone of the Heritage Handicraft Museum in Namchi, South Sikkim. The new building which falls under the Directorate of Handloom and Handicraft (DHH) is being constructed at a cost of Rs 4.92 lakhs.

Addressing the function, CM Chamling said the Heritage Handicraft Museum will become an important addition to the development of Namchi, as it will be yet another tourist attraction center in the town.  

The new building will be an additional earning source for taxi drivers, hoteliers, and other entrepreneurs, Chamling pointed out. He further said the centre will also be an important center to preserve the traditional handlooms and handcrafts of Sikkim and also to safeguard its vanishing local arts and culture. 

Chief Minister also announced the formation of the Lok Ayukta Forum, which will be launched shortly in the state. He said, “The forum would help the public to file their complaint against any kind of corruptions/injustice or any corrupt person/people or organization.” The forum will be formed to provide transparent and corruption free governance in the state, he added.

The programme was also addressed by Minister Neeru Sewa, Area MLA Binod Rai, Secretary Commerce and Industries PT Ethenpa, and Director DHH Ganga Devi Pradhan.
