Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) spokesperson Harka Bahadur Chettri today criticized Bhaichung Bhutia for accepting candidature as a TMC candidate from Darjeeling constituency.
Talking to reporters at the party office, Chettri said Bhutia has lost all respect which he had gained from the hill residents. He said any individual irrespective of his community who understands the grievances and demands of the hill residents is the true ‘son of soil’. “Bhaichung never attended any social programme organised in the Hills nor is he from a political background. By supporting the TMC he has hurt the sentiments of the hill residents,” said Chettri.
He added the BJP has already included the formation of Gorkhaland in its election manifesto and will support its candidate SS Ahluwalia for the LS polls.
