The hill Trinamool Youth Congress today expressed happiness following reports of the decision of the Gorkha National Liberation Front to support the TMC’s poll candidate.
Talking to reporters here, hill TMC youth president Chewang Bhutia said, “We had appealed to the GNLF to support us after Bhaichung Bhutia’s candidature from Darjeeling was announced. We are finally seeing a positive response coming from the GNLF side.”
On the GNLF’s demand for Sixth Schedule status, the TMC leader said, “We cannot confirm our stand on the issue at present, but we will definitely discuss it with our leaders.”
Commenting on the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s support to BJP candidate AS Ahluwalia, Bhutia said, “Bimal Gurung had made a joker of himself at Brigade ground when he called himself Shahrukh Khan. It seems BJP leader Ahluwalia will also end up a joker after the poll results are out.”
