Mirik - With the Lok Sabha elections at the doorsteps, political parties in the hills have started campaigning aggressively across the region. On the same lines, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s election committee today conducted a meeting here with various party units to discuss the election strategy.
The meeting was presided over by GTA Mirik sabhasad Phubi Rai in the presence of GJM election committee president Basant Thapa. The meeting was also attended by the Morcha’s minority community and contractual workers units along with a number of other unit representatives.
The leaders decided to start campaigning for the elections in different areas under Mirik and help GJM-supported BJP candidate SS Ahluwalia to win the Darjeeling LS Seat. They stressed on the importance of Ahluwalia’s victory as it would fulfil the ultimate dream of achieving a separate state of Gorkhaland.
The leaders also decided to form election sub-committees in Mirik and other areas to further intensify election campaigning and urged party workers to work harder in this endeavour. (EOIC)
