Darjeeling April 15: After Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, it was S.S. “I know your dreams. Narendra Modi knows your dreams and it will be fulfilled,” added the BJP vice president who is now a BJP nominee for the Darjeeling seat. The region will go for polls on April 17. The GJM backed Ahluwalia was addressing his campaign rally for the first time in Darjeeling town.

Unlike Jaswant Singh, the standing BJP MP representing Darjeeling who wanted to buy a house in the hills, Ahluwalia interestingly was seen following his predecessor’s footsteps. Ahluwalia however said he has already taken a house, without clarifying whether he has bought it or not, so that he could become a hill resident before he represents the constituency in the parliament. “I have taken a house so that i understand the hill problems as a resident and not as guest,” he asserted.

Confident that his party is likely to form the government at the centre, Ahluwalia addressing the crowd for the last time touched on all walks of life to bag their precious votes so that he makes it comfortably to the parliament.

“It is the religion of a MP to raise the problems of the people who send him to the parliament. I will not only raise my voice but fulfill your dreams,” the leader added. He promised to raise the demands of the Tibetans living in India, promised to grant tribals status to the hill communities and asked minorities not to get scared because the voice which he raises will be also the voices of the minorities.

Taking a cue at Dr. Mahendra P.Lama, a lone independent candidate who declared himself winner at a rally yesterday, Ahluwalia levelled him as a TMC cadre sent by Mamata Banerjee to divide the hill votes. “He is simply sent by Banerjee to create a rift between the hill communities,” the BJP veteran alleged.
