Bimal Gurung expressed thanks on behalf of GJM to the people of Darjeeling constituency for casting his vote for S S Ahluwalia and making it possible for BJP win by around 2 lakh votes.

Bimal Gurung On Facebook "I express my sincere gratitude to the people of the Darjeeling Hills, Terai and the Dooars including Gorkhas, minorities and all other communities for reimposing their faith in the GJM and ensuring thumping victory of our candidate Shri S.S Ahluwalia by a margin of almost 2 lakh votes. This huge victory proves our full mandate in the Hills, Terai and Dooars. It is also an endorsement of the good work done by GJM through the GTA in last 2 years.

We also thank the Gorkhas of Uttarkhand and Assam as the BJP has won in all the constituencies which GJM had supported and campaigned.

I also extend my heartiest congratulations to Shri Narendra Modi for his dynamic leadership and mammoth victory and for becoming the next Prime Minister of India. We will now pursue our dream of separate state Gorkhaland with him and the BJP. We have full faith in his leadership as Shri Modi has already said that the "dream of the Gorkhas is his dream".
This victory is a resounding endorsement of Gorkhaland.
