DARJEELING: Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) members and officials accorded farewell to Ram Das Meena, principal secretary of the GTA, on Friday. Meena’s tenure in the GTA ended on May 30.

Meena had been appointed principal secretary after a lot of hue and cry by GTA members. With the formation of the GTA in August 2012, there had been demands for the appointment of a full-fledged principal secretary.
As the state government turned a deaf ear to repeated pleas of the GTA for the appointment of a full-fledged principal secretary, the GTA had to seek legal recourse.
