Amar Subba ‘Marathon Man’ of Sikkim in for ‘24 hrs Stadium Run’ Bengaluru

Amar Subba, the 45-year-old ‘Marathon Man’ of Sikkim, today announced he would participate in the ‘24 hrs Stadium Run’ in Bengaluru on August 2. Subba picked up the bronze in last year’s 12-Hour Stadium Run held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. He told journalists at the Press Club of Sikkim that he had got only a month’s time to prepare last year, but this time he is fully prepared as he has set his sights on gold.

The competition will be a 24 hour non-stop run for which just 10 participants including Subba have been chosen from across the country. During last year’s event, Subba ran 96km (240 rounds of the 400-metre lap stadium) in 12 hours, bagging the bronze medal along with a cash prize of Rs20,000. He was just a few kilometers short from the winner who ran 106km in 12 hours and the first runner-up who managed 104km in the allotted timeframe. (HS)
