“We have expelled the three from the party membership. Our party president Bimal Gurung himself gave the direction. The three activists were indulging in anti-party activities which does not auger well for us,” GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said.

Sources within the party said the three activists could have been expelled because of issues like extorting money in the party’s name. The business fraternity from Kalimpong had recently met the GJM president to apprise him about calls from individuals demanding money from traders in the  name of the party.

Gurung after hearing the trader community from Kalimpong had asked them to try and identify the callers demanding money and lodge complaints in the nearest police station. He had threatened
immediately to expel any party worker involved in such activities. Nanita Gautam who recently joined GJM from theTrinamool Congress has been made the organizational secretary of the Kalimpong sub-divisional committee.
