The North East representatives of Shiva Sena yesterday called upon GJM Chief Bimal Gurung, and extended their support to the Gorkhaland issue.
Speaking to the Press, Mr. Shiv Chand the NE In-Charge for Shiva Sena stated that within the next 10 days, they will hold a dharna in favour of Gorkhaland in Delhi and will meet the Prime Minister, and other ministers to impress upon them the need to for Gorkhaland.
The delegation contained of NE Shiva Sena executives and included, Shiva Sena NE President Shiv Chand, Secretary Mithun Nag, and Joint-Secretary Saptashree Banerjee (from Siliguri, and Vice President Asai Ray.
Mr. Shiv Chand told the press that Gorkhaland demand is one of the oldest demand in the country and needs to be formed. He said that "Gorkhas are loyal to the nation and are brave, so they should be given justice... Shiva Sena had earlier protested against Gorkhaland, but now we support it... as we have realized that we need to support the Gorkhas and not oppose them."
Mr. Chand further said that, "we have 19 MPs and Ministers and we will get them to push for the Gorkhaland issue in the Parliament."
