In a drastic move, the GJM (Gorkha Janmukti Morcha) has decided to recall its MLAs from Bengal legislature, as a symbolic gesture towards cutting off ties from West Bengal.
Speaking exclusively to TheDC, GJM General Secretary Mr. Roshan Giri and Asst General Secretary of the party Mr. Binoy Tamang stated that, "following repeated instances of interference by the Bengal government in the functioning of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration... the party has unanimously decided to cut off ties with Bengal... on September 23rd the MLAs will all resign, followed by resignation of all Municipality members, and then the elected GTA representatives"
He added that, "we are in the process of sending a letter to the Prime Minister stating the reason why GTA has failed completely, and will inform him about the fact that only Gorkhaland can fulfill the aspirations of the people of Darjeeling, Terai and Dooars."
