"There May Be Numerous Harka Bahadur Like Me.... But You Won't Find Someone Like Mamata Ever..." - Dr. HB Chettri
Claiming that Kalimpong district will soon become a reality, Kalimpong MLA Dr. Harka Bahadur Chettri asserted that he has already received green signal from Bengal on this issue.
Speaking at a public meeting in Kalimpong Town Hall, Dr. Chettri said that "if there was no understanding on the Kalimpong district issue then people would prevent us from attending such programs... it would be difficult for me to meet CM when I go to Kolkata... they have welcomed me with open arms... this is an indication that the Bengal government is sold on the idea of forming a separate district for Kalimpong..."
Heaping praises on Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, the renegade MLA from Kalimpong said, "there may be numerous Harka Bahadur like me in the future... But you won't find anyone like Mamata Banerjee ever..."
He stated that when Kalimpong district is formed, then it will have to continue with 1 MLA and no MP seat till 2025 as it requires redrawing of constituencies at the Central level and the next such meeting is only slated for 2025.
