A 15-year-old student from Assam has gone missing since Thursday from his guardian’s home in Kurseong after being firmly reprimanded for misbehaviour.
The student, Shivam Thakur from Bongaigoan in Assam, had been studying at a reputed private school in Kurseong since the last four years and was staying with his uncle here. Thakur had reportedly misbehaved with a shopkeeper on Wednesday afternoon, who complained to his uncle. Hearing this, his uncle had scolded Thakur and also slapped him. Angered by the humiliation, the teenager had stepped out of the house on the pretext of fetching some drinking water and has not returned ever since.
When he did not come home during the night and no one could find him, his uncle filed a missing report with the Kurseong police on Thursday night. Thakur’s parents have been informed and a search for the boy is on, informed police sources.
