GTA sabhashad Nima Tamang, who was released from prison on January 2, was today given a grand welcome by the Dungra Pudung constituency committee of the GJM.
During the function, the unit also welcomed eight other GJM youth activists recently released from jail. The welcome function organised at the GJM party office in Kalimpong was attended by GTA deputy chief Ramesh Allay, GJM Kalimpong coordinator Norden Lama and women’s wing leader Bandana Yonjon, among others.
Addressing party supporters present, Allay said, "Prison life adds energy among the activists to fight for the cause of statehood. We learn several things in prison; it makes us more enduring.”
Talking about his experiences, Norden Lama said being imprisoned for taking part in a movement only intensifies the spirit to fight with more fervour.
Expressing gratitude towards party workers, sabhashad Tamang said although he was arrested during the statehood struggle, life in prison was made easier by their unflinching support.
