It has been reported only the two children were present in the house when the fire broke out as Prem Bahadur was busy restoring a water pipeline while his wife, Martha Subba, was out collecting firewood for the evening meal and fodder for their cattle. When the couple approached home, everything was found in flames. As their home is in a very isolated area, the couple could not receive help immediately from other residents of the village.

The police have registered a case and started an investigation. A team from the district administration led by SDM HQ Sandup Bhutia and DPO (Disaster Management Cell) Pempa Norbu today visited the area and consoled the distraught couple. Bhuita said the administration has released immediate relief for the husband and wife and has also asked the area’s panchayat to do the needful for the duo.
