Golaghat 14th Aug 2014: The All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) the apex influential organisation of Gorkha students and youth of Assam have vehemently condemned the indiscriminate firing from across the border killing of 3 innocent villagers and injuring severely several others by suspected miscreants following protests by several organizations jointly including AAGSU after two hifgschool teenagers students were kidnapped by suspected NSCN millitants for ransom along the Assam-Nagaland along Ghulapani Uriamghat are under Dhansiri Sub-Division of Golaghat district Assam on
‘AAGSU vehemently condems the indiscriminate firing from across the border by full armed persons suspected to miscreants who had kidnapped Bhimsen Kujur and Ajay Gardh. Firing killed 3 innocent villages and some thousands have fled searching for safe shelter at Uriamghat. said Prem Newar , President of AAGSU Golaghat District Committee.
Condemning the incident Nanda Kirati Dewan Senior Leader of AAGSU who is a resident of Merapani along Assam-Nagaland border said,’We the AAGSU had submitted several memorandums to appropriate authorities time and again seeking intervention in settling the intrastate border dispute with Assam of the adjoining states Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Meghalaya and provide security to borderside and reserve forests dwellers and who have been prone to illegal encroachers and antisocial elements. ‘This incident is evidence of lack of sincerity of Home Department of Govt. of Assam and lawlessness who failed to provide security to the landless farmers who were safeguarding Assamese land by inhabiting in the Ghulapani area,’
Dewan said further criticized the Govt. of Assam for failing to provide security,’Places like Charaipung, Sonari, Titabor, Naojan, Ghualapni, Titabor, Langpih, Chawaldhuwa and Merapani were always in trouble torn or disturbed area map but neither the central government nor the state government were ever interested in resolving the conflict to an amicable solution and nevever adequate paramilitary forces were deployed adequately’. He appealed Union Home Minister of State Shri. Khiren Rijiju to visit the disturbed area and under MHA guidance to resolve all the border disputes once and for all.
Delegation of AAGSU lead by Golaghat District Unit President Prem Newar and General Secretary Moni Kumar Limboo visited the trouble torn areas of Ghulapani , Chetiagaon, Ratanpur, Romanbasti, Chainpur and Kemphur , Lachitgoan, Mazgoan etc. and took note of situation and affected people.
Prem Newar AAGSU Golaghat District president informed mediapersons from Economic Blockade against Nagaland protest site at Rangajan where AAGSU and atleast 8 students and youths organization have blocked the NH 37 connecting Assam-Nagaland through Karbianglong. More than 500 vehicles are reported to be blocked by agitators at Bokajan, Rangajan and Titabor and it will continue unless a proper ex-gratia to the next kith and kin of deceased is released in cash and abducted students are released safely and unconditionally and terrorizing activities across the borders are stopped.
Newar further said AAGSU will be part of joint movement. ‘We issue an ultimatum of three days till to book the culprits and perpetuators of this gruesome attack and ensure safety and security of the natives immediately and announce compensation as demanded otherwise the AAGSU supported by all community organization will call indefinite economic blockade along Assam-Nagaland Pradesh border through out Assam
General Secretary AAGSU Golaghat unit Moni Kumar Limboo in Uriamghat said, ‘They burnt 70 houses triggering the exodus of people from five affected villages — Chetiagaon, Ratanpur, Romanbasti, Chainpur and Kemphur. Eight relief camps have been opened in Uriamghat to provide shelter to at least ten thousand affected villagers. The Naga miscreants have already torched houses in 14 villages. Another 40 villages are in threat now. AAGSU’s protests along with all other affected community organizations will continue as long as the Assam Government does not deploy sufficient security personnel in the affected areas to protect the lives and properties of the people,”
Joining an economic blockade at Sonari AAGSU president Prem Tamang too condemned the incident from S Assam’s Sivsagarh district along the Assam-Nagaland border along Mon district of Nagalanad of Eastern Assam and threatened both Assam and Nagaland Govt. of dire democratic consequences if the demands are met within stipulated time. A complete indefinite economic blockade against Nagaland shall be observed across Assam shall if our demands are met and ensure justice within three days.
