Mirik: An awareness rally on crime against women, human trafficking and child labour was held today at Panighatta Bazaar, organised jointly by Panighatta Police Outpost under Mirik Police and Kanchenjunga Uddhar Kendra. The rally was participated by students from various schools in the region. It started from Panighatta PP area and culminated at Loreto Convent School, where the rally converted into an awareness programme.
The chief guest for the programme today was Darjeeling District Session Court’s CJM Biplab Roy, while the guest of honor was Kurseong SDPO CB Subba. The students and local people attending the function were addressed by the two guest along with others including Judge Biswanath Bhattarai, Shantanu Mishra and Suchna Rai. The speakers made people aware about the evil practice of human trafficking and child labour along with ever increasing crime against women. They urged the students and people to be extra careful and take preventive measures to avoid getting into such situations.
