ROHINI LAKE Now and Then Pics- Manish Shrestra for The DC
No thanks to the shoddy treatment out towards maintenance of tourism infrastructure in the Darjeeling hills by the Bengal government and the failure on the part of the GTA administration to attract tourism funds from the Centre, more such tourism spots are turning to a virtual ‘NO GO’ zone, shunned by the tourists and the locals alike.
The condition of Rohini Lake which started receding in 2006, due to a faulty design, and contractors not doing their work properly has led the lake to gradually dry up and now does not even have a single drop of water.
Even though the GTA tourism department has repeatedly said that they have plans to revive the Rohini Lake, but reconstruction work is yet to start and nothing has been done to revive its lost glory.
